Practice Information
Practice is held each weekday after school starting at 2:30 PM. We meet at the northeast corner of the track. Athletes are expected to finish school, change promptly, and be at the track on time. If they are unable to make it on time, they are expected to contact a coach well in advance via Remind to let them know.
If the weather is bad, sometimes we will meet in the Excalibur Room. This will be announced via Remind.
Athletes are expected to come to practice prepared to give their best on the day. This means that athletes should, generally speaking, not
- eat large meals shortly before coming to practice;
- stay up late so they get insufficient sleep;
- procrastinate academic deadlines so that they need to miss practice to make up school work; and
- treat practice principally as a social event and/or ignore direction from coaches.
Parents can expect practice to finish at some time from 4:00 to 4:30 PM each day.
Official practice will start on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 and will conclude on May 17, 2025 (the final day of the state meet).
Attendance Expectations
We expect our athletes to attend practices. We know they are busy, but they are young adults, and we expect them to manage their schedules. If an athlete is competing in multiple sports, they should talk to their event coach and work out a mutually acceptable schedule. While no athlete will be cut from the team just for missing practice, competition decisions will be influenced by attendance habits and work ethic.
