5A State Qualifying Standards
In order for athletes to compete at the State Championship Meet, which is held in May at the Brigham Young University track and field complex, athletes must qualify, either by mark (time/distance) or by place at the Region Championship Meet.
The top 6 placers in each event at the Region Championship will qualify to compete in the state meet, even if they have not achieved the qualifying standard.
The qualifying standards are adjusted each year, based on the times from the prior years state meet. They are different for each classification (i.e., 1A, 2A, 3A, etc.).
The qualifying standards for the 2025 state meet for the 5A classification are listed below. All state standards must be run at a USHAA sanctioned meet. Additional details can be found on the USHAA website (http://www.ushaa.org).
