We are about halfway through our season at this point. Hard to believe it’s going so fast! We have no meets this week, and, since Jeffrey will not be in town on Saturday, we are going to push the 4x800M relay to later (probably Region Relays on April 9). This gives us a full, uninterrupted week of training, which is exciting for a coach during a competition season!
I. News & Announcements
A. Davis County Championships.
Great job to everyone who ran at the Davis County Championships this past week! We had many standout performances. Evelyn continued to ride the PR train, as she PR’d in both the 1600M (5:14.13) and the 800M (2:25.84)! Jeffrey ran a tough 1600M on Tuesday feeling under the weather, but came back to PR and state qualify in the 3200M the next day, running 9:30.76. Carson not only got that sub-5:00 mile, he blew right past it, running an almost 12 second PR at 4:50.12! Lily G also PR’d in the 3200M, shaving nearly a second off her best time without the benefit of altitude. Mason jumped into a 1600M at ran tough at the front, holding on to finish in a fine season-opening time of 5:20.63. Jeffrey, Aaron, Nate, and Lily G ran a very tough 1600M/3200M double, which is valuable practice for our competition season.

B. Spring Break
This week is Spring Break, and so we have no school. I know some of you will be out of town. Please try and get the workouts in on your own if you will be gone. For those of you who will be in town, we will plan on meeting on Monday and Thursday for a workout. The rest of the week, please train on your own. The track may or may not be open on the other days. If you need it open for some reason, please message me and let me know, and I will see what I can do. It’s also possible weather may require us to adjust a day, so please watch Remind for updates.
C. Cumulative Fatigue
After a few weeks of really tough racing, I got the sense that people were getting physically and mentally tired after the Davis County Championships. That’s why I tried to keep the second half of last week very relaxed. I hope you got to relax a little bit and felt some of the snap and fire come back. Cumulative fatigue is a part of the training process over any extended period training block. But we need to manage it. If you’re feeling tired all the time, your legs aren’t bouncing back, or getting burnt out, PLEASE talk to me about it so that we can adjust what we’re doing.
D. Upcoming Meets
We need to sit down and plan out what races we’re going to run in our upcoming meets. Let’s try to do that on Monday, if you’re at practice, or over the next couple days via Remind if you’ll be out of town (assuming you’re somewhere that has service). Otherwise, we’ll do it when we get back.
II. Weekly Training
This week’s training is available at the link below. As always, the Tuellers will provide Evelyn her training, and Martin will get his training from his coach in the Czech Republic.

Here is this week’s video update. Click through to watch it on YouTube. I think it got flagged for some copyright issue…but it’s playing for me when I watch it on YouTube. Thanks!
